Heavy rain causes flash flooding in Birkenhead

Video shows flash looding on Borough Road, Birkenhead. (Warning: Video contains language some may find offensive.)

The rain has now eased off and the Met Office is forecasting it to be cloudy with bright spells tomorrow. Earlier, heavy rain and hail across the Wirral and beyond had caused flash floods. The video post from Sarah White on Facebook shows just how bad the floods were on Borough Road in Birkenhead.

Merseyside Police has issued a warning about standing water via their Twitter feed.

Flash floods occur when drainage systems simply can’t cope with sudden very heavy downpours of rain.
