Golf Club raises £5,000 for Hoylake RNLI

Childwall Golf Club’s Catherine Lewis-Jones presented Hoylake RNLI volunteers with a cheque for £5,000 this week after a year of fundraising activities as Ladies Captain.

Every year, the Ladies Section of the Liverpool-based golf club hold their Ladies Captain’s Drive, beginning with a round of morning golf and closing with afternoon tea in the clubhouse. During this time, the newly-appointed Ladies Captain introduces her nominated charity for the year ahead, to which all money raised from collection boxes and fundraising activities will be donated.

Members from this selected charity are invited to attend the function and give a presentation. Following this, the retiring Captain will present her chosen charity with all proceeds raised during her year in office.

Last year, Ladies Captain Catherine Lewis-Jones kindly nominated the RNLI as her chosen charity. Hoylake RNLI Lifeboat Visits Officer, Brian Jordan and Souvenir Secretary, Ged Whelan attended the annual event and provided the Ladies Captain and her members with a presentation on the history and lifesaving work of the RNLI.

On Tuesday 7 March, Hoylake RNLI’s Brian and Ged returned to the annual ceremony in Childwall where retiring Captain Catherine presented the volunteers with a cheque for £5,000 raised throughout her tenure.

Brian Jordan, Hoylake RNLI Lifeboat Visits Officer, said, “Thank you Catherine for nominating the RNLI as your chosen charity and raising such a wonderful total. We would like to give additional thanks to all members of the Childwall Golf Club for their support.”
