Go green and travel sustainably to Future Yard during April

Future Yard is encouraging attendees to events and shows to use public transport or bike to travel during its Sustainable Travel Month throughout April.

This is part of the venue’s ongoing effort to become a carbon neutral operation and forms part of a whole programme of activity planned for the year.

A spokesperson for the venue said, “When we take into account our Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, we’re aware that the biggest contributor to our carbon footprint is travel by customers, staff, and suppliers in getting to and from the venue.

“As Future Yard is ideally situated between three train stations and a major bus station, we think we can help to massively reduce this carbon footprint by encouraging more sustainable travel methods.

“To highlight all these options, we’ve got plenty lined up in April to help you make your trip to Future Yard even greener.”

Future Yard’s location on Argyle Street is handily placed between three railway stations (Hamilton Square, Conway Park, and Birkenhead Central), which makes it one of the best-connected venues in the region.

The venue has teamed up with Merseyrail to offer free rail travel to selected Future Yard shows during April.

After running a similar and very successful pilot in October last year, Merseyrail will be offering free return train tickets to Birkenhead stations around four shows in April.

This offer applies for the following shows – Izo FitzRoy – 03.04.24 / Boston Manor – 10.04.24 / Huey Morgan’s NYC Block Party – 19.04.24 / MELTS – 24.04.24.

Getting on your bike and cycling down to Future Yard is starting to get more appealing now that the weather is turning.

And don’t forget, people who cycle to Future Yard receive 10% off food and drink.

The venue is also hosting a group bike ride prior to one show this month, to highlight how simple, fun, and healthy it is to cycle to and from Future Yard.

Details are to be confirmed, but the ride will start in Birkenhead Park and will end up at Future Yard in time for that evening’s show.

With Birkenhead Bus Station just a three-minute walk from Future Yard’s front door (plus Woodside and numerous bus stops), the venue is also very well served by bus routes, which makes it doubly handy that the venue has also teamed up with Arriva to offer discounted bus travel for Future Yard customers during the whole of April.

Ticket holders to shows at Future Yard can get return travel to Birkenhead stations for just £2, a saving of well over 50%.
