It was another ‘typical British summer day’ with plenty of rain on the fourth day of the 151st Open at The Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake.
Brian Harman bounced back from an early stumble to cruise confidently to his inaugural major title, securing a commanding six-shot triumph at the 151st Open Championship.
The American golfer comfortably finished at 13 under par, enduring the challenge of a rain-soaked Royal Liverpool course.
World number three, Jon Rahm, shared the second spot with Sepp Straka, Tom Kim, and Jason Day, all finishing at seven under par.
Rory McIlroy wrapped up his performance at six under par, while England’s top performers, Matthew Jordan and Tommy Fleetwood, tied at four under par.
The week turned into a fairy tale for Wirral man Matthew Jordan, whose connection with Royal Liverpool started at a remarkably young age of three, eventually becoming a member at seven.
His journey reached a high point when the R&A granted him the honour of hitting the opening tee shot on Thursday. Jordan rounded off the tournament in style, carding a one-under-par final round on Sunday, propelling him into the top 10 and securing qualification for next year’s Open at Royal Troon in Ayrshire.
