The body of a baby boy, which was found in a wooded area of Brackenwood golf course, was discovered by walkers, Merseyside Police has said.
The baby boy was found at Brackenwood golf course in Bebington, on Friday 29 January. Merseyside Police said the boy’s death was “unexplained.” A post-mortem examination is due to take place today.
In a statement, Brackenwood golf course said, “I am sure by now many will have heard of the absolutely devastating and heart breaking news regarding the police incident at Brackenwood Golf Course.
“All of us at Brackenwood Golf Club are deeply shocked and saddened at this tragic incident and send our deepest condolences to family and friends affected. Rest in peace little one.”
Today, birkenhead.news spoke to Det Ch Supt Lee Turner, who is in charge of the Merseyside Police investigation.
“There were no personal effects with the baby. It is not clear how long he had been there or when he died.”, he said
“We are appealing for help in finding the mum or dad to ensure that they have all the right support and help and for them to help us to fill in gaps as to what has happened.”
Regarding the post mortem, he said, “The post mortem was held today but was inconclusive and further forensic tests will be carried out.”
