Funding awarded to make Rock Ferry station accessible for all

Birkenhead Labour MP, Mick Whitley has welcomed the announcement Rock Ferry railway station has been awarded funding to make the station accessible for all.

This follows a lengthy campaign that Mick was at the forefront of. Rock Ferry Station is a vital hub, which has been inaccessible for disabled people for far too long. It was one of the only routes to Chester deterring people with disabilities from visiting that historic town.

Mick said, “This demonstrates that campaigning works. The pressure we have maintained has at last brought a reward. I would like to thank all those who have supported this lengthy campaign, including Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram and Cllr Steve Foulkes.

“This new investment will make the station accessible for all and will especially will the lives and travel options for people with disabilities.”
