The planned reopening of the fun pool at Europa Pools in Birkenhead for the summer holidays will not now go-ahead due to rising rates of COVID-19 infections in Wirral.
Wirral’s infection rate is now the highest in the Liverpool City Region and in the top 20 nationally, with an average of 243 new cases every day and the borough is currently designated by government as an area of Enhanced Response.
Despite a government announcement on 12th July 2021 regarding a relaxation of COVID-19 regulations nationally and an earlier decision by council to reopen the fun pool over the summer, officers have taken the decision to keep it closed on public health and protection grounds.
Details of the availability of other swimming and leisure activities in Wirral can be found on wirralleisure.co.uk
