Craftbar is a new innovative programme of free access to creative workshops and labs focusing on sustainable and circular skills, thinking, practices, making and design.
The labs will take place at venues across Birkenhead including Pink Sands Studio, Birkenhead Park, Pilgrim Street Arts Centre and Open Door Charity.
Craftbar offers a diverse array of engaging and enjoyable creative pursuits that are available to all at no cost.
These activities encompass a wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to ecology and foraging, herbalism, fermentation and sustainable cooking, creative activism, puppetry, weaving, writing, sculpture, and the construction of objects from discarded materials.

Craftbar Launch event at Pilgrim Street Art Centre, 1 Pilgrim St, Birkenhead, CH41 5EH. Friday 24 March 6:00-9:30pm
Alison Bailey Smith: will be leading a brooch and pin making workshop. Using found, waste and scrap material.
Jackie Pease: will be leading a collaborative sculptural build using waste soft plastic materials.
Private groups host with Open Door Charities OOMOO project
Lydia O’Hara – Lydia will be leading and working focused around puppetry making and sustainable approaches to the toy industry.
Lo Tierney – Lo will be working with a group of young people to explore creative approaches to climate activism.
Evening Workshops: Open workshop hosted at Pink Sands Studio
Claire Henderson: This workshop will cover the technique of a basic weave and other patterns and its meditative process. Wednesday 26 April 6:30-8:30pm
Ellie Hoskins: Ellie’s workshop will approach sustainability in writing: how can we avoid writer’s block and reliably create inspiration where there isn’t any. Wednesday 10 May: 6:30-8:30pm
Charlotte Boardman: Charlotte’s workshop provides a beginner introduction to creating a “me-made” wardrobe offering an introduction to pattern cutting and sewing -Wednesday 31 May: 6:30-8:30pm
