Forum Housing residents to host film premiere of ‘What About Us? – A Community Conversation

Forum Housing is hosting a red-carpet VIP community event for the launch of their residents’ film première of ‘What About Us? – A Community Conversation’.

The event is being held at Future Yard Birkenhead on Wednesday 17 May at 1pm. This short documentary film was produced by a group of Forum residents who were supported to develop their documentary ideas from the film brief.

The aim of the film was to uncover the reasons why Forum residents sometimes struggle to access community services, groups, and activities.

The project, which enabled the Resident Film Crew to be trained in interviewing, filming, producing, and editing skills, and to plan their own public premiere event, was funded through Wirral Council CVF Renewal Fund.

The afternoon event will be a celebration of the residents’ work, and of the community organisations that go the extra mile to make their services accessible to Forum Housing residents, and to others within our communities.

Debbie Thompson, Chief Executive of Forum Housing Association, said, “We were really pleased that we secured the funding to enable our residents to make this film. They have come together as a team, learnt new skills, and worked hard to produce an interesting film that reflects the thoughts and ideas of our residents.

“We would also like to thank all those organisations taking time out of their day to take part, and for welcoming and supporting our residents. The film has been a truly inclusive project, and its aim is to ensure that those that have experienced or been at risk of homelessness are able to take part in activities and support within their local community. Well done to everyone who took part.”

The event is free and the last remaining tickets for the Premiere of ‘What About Us?’ can be found at Eventbrite.co.uk This free-ticketed event includes refreshments, and also features music by local artists and DJs.
