Angela Case and Mark Gibson met just before the pandemic started and, despite the challenges it presented, true love triumphed.
Angela and Mark were married two years later on 4 December 2021, becoming the first-ever couple to have held their wedding reception at the Lady Lever Art Gallery in Port Sunlight, one of seven stunning arts venues in the Hosted by National Museums Liverpool portfolio.
They chose the Lady Lever Art Gallery for its uniqueness, stunning architecture and because “there was nowhere else that came close.”
There was an unprecedented spike in wedding enquiries at the museums just after Christmas of 2021. Indeed, Angela and Mark first realised they wanted to marry one another over one such romantic Christmas and New Year break.
On why the couple chose the Lady Lever Art Gallery, Mark said, “Originally a friend who lives in Port Sunlight suggested it but didn’t know of any weddings that had been there.
“As soon as we walked into it with our ‘wedding venue’ vision there was nowhere else that came close, especially for Angela. The idea of somewhere unique was important. Plus architecturally, the building is stunning. It made for some brilliant photographs.”
Angela said, ” We wanted a winter feel, but not a Christmas theme. Navy blue, rich burgundy and plenty of greens and whites.
“Matching the fact we were in a gallery, we incorporated easels of different sizes onto each table to hold all our signs and place settings. The favours (on mini easels) were Lego figure brooches for the men and mini paper rose brooches for women made from pages of old books.
“We also had the florist’s arrangements matching the deco feel, with low displays in glass goblets on each table, that smelt amazing.”
