Filming underway in Wirral for BBC Two’s Henpocalypse!

New comedy series Henpocalypse! is currently being filmed in Wirral and Snowdonia, featuring the story of Zara, a bride-to-be who turns into a bridezilla when her hen party is disrupted by the apocalypse.

As they bide their time in a remote holiday home in Wales, she and her working-class compatriot hens from the West Midlands confront a daunting battle for existence amidst the collapse of human society.

The strong female ensemble are made of Elizabeth Berrington (The Responder, The Pact) who plays Zara’s formidable mother Bernadette, Lucie Shorthouse (We Are Lady Parts) as demanding bride Zara, Callie Cooke (Cheaters, Peacock) as put upon chief bridesmaid Shelly, Lauren O’Rourke (White Gold, Drifters) as conspiracy theorist beautician Veena, Kate O’Flynn (Landscapers, Everyone Else Burns) as one woman disaster area Jen and Ben McGregor (The Tuckers) will join the cast as entrepreneurial stripper Drew.

Caroline Moran said, “This is a dream cast, the locations are epic, the apocalypse has never been so much fun”

In addition to the typical tensions that come with a hen party, the hens must also confront the unfamiliar post-apocalyptic world, relying solely on their ingenuity and a car load of hen party gear to survive.

Emerging from weeks of seclusion, they discover that the male population has been decimated, but they are not the only survivors – a group of radicalized Pilates instructors poses a significant challenge to their survival.

Jon Petrie, Director of Comedy Commissioning at the BBC said, “It’s no surprise that Caz’s inventive scripts have attracted such a top cast. Her post-apocalyptic vision is both terrifying and utterly hilarious. We can’t wait to see it all come together.”

Further broadcast details will be announced in due course.
