Family hub providing parent and infant support launches in Prenton

Families in Prenton will be able to access a variety of different support services under one roof thanks to the launch of Wirral’s ninth Family Hub.

Families, organisations and Wirral Council staff gathered to celebrate the launch at a marketplace event on Thursday, 28 March, with an Easter Egg Hunt, arts and crafts, and other activities provided for little ones.

Family Hubs are spaces where families can easily access a wide range of non-judgemental support to help them live well in Wirral. They bring together maternity services, health visitors, library and foodbank services and children’s centre activities.

In addition to the usual family hub offer, the new Koala North West Family Hub will also house more specialist support for families with infants and younger children.

Elizabeth Hartley, Director for Children, Families and Education at Wirral Council said, “We’re delighted to see the Family Hub at Koala NW opening and providing support for Wirral families.

“As one of the funding members of our Early Help Alliance and Family Toolbox, the Children’s Services department has been working with Koala NW over recent years to make family help easier to access and better for our residents.

“Now that they are hosting a Family Hub we are excited to see families benefit. Koala NW have a fantastic reputation for peer support and volunteer-led activities which will be a great asset to our hub network.”

Koala North West is a charitable organisation based in Wirral, providing support for families with children aged 0-11. As such, they bring to the table their expertise with services including a range of Early Years Services, including Breastfeeding Peer Support, SEND services, Family Support, and Sleep Support.

Bev Morgan, CEO at Koala North West, said, “We’re excited to be joining the Family Hub team hopefully bringing our services and others to more families who need them across the borough.”

Wirral’s Family Hubs make services easier to navigate and more joined-up, ensuring families receive the right service at the right time. They each offer the same core services – with extra support tailored to the needs of the local communities they serve.

Koala North West Family Hub is based at Koala North West, Woodchurch Lane, Prenton, Wirral CH42 9PH.

All families with children aged 0-19, and up to age 25 for young people with SEND, will be able to access advice and guidance from a variety of services.
