Villiers Quartet

The Villiers Quartet will perform for Hoylake Chamber Concert Society on Monday 28th March 2022, 7:30PM, at St Hildeburgh’s Church, Hoylake, Wirral.

Currently the Quartet-in-Residence at the Jacqueline Du Pré Music Building at Oxford University, the Villiers Quartet are renowned as “Champions of British music.” Their crirtically acclaimed recordings include string quartets by Frederick Delius, Peter Racine Fricker, William Alwyn, and Robert Still.

The Quartet have also premiered music by 21st century British composers and commissioned new pieces through an initiative From Home: VQ Commissions. They have presented masterclasses in the UK and US, combining their passion for performance with teaching. VQ Discovery is an online vehicle created during the 2021 lockdown to offer secondary school students an in-depth study of string quartets by Beethoven and Haydn.

We are pleased to welcome the Villiers Quartet back to Hoylake. Their upcoming programme includes:

Mendelssohn: Quartet in A minor, Op. 13

Eleanor Alberga: String Quartet No.2

Robert Fokkens: Spinning, Weaving (part of VQ From Home Commissions)

Dvořák: Quartet in A flat Major, Op. 105
