Re-Wild Kids club

12 August @ 12:30 pm - 26 August @ 2:30 pm

The Re-wild Kids Club is a great way for children aged 5 – 14 years to really get stuck into the outdoors during the weekend and to re-conne

There is nowhere better for children to be than immersed in natural woodland, the perfect space to engage in learning whilst having fun, making friends and playing in the environment around them. No matter the season (or the weather!) there is always something new to learn from nature. The sessions are led by a qualified and experienced Forest School Leader and each session is supported by a Forest School Assistant.

A typical day looks like:

Children are dropped off at 12:30pm and the session begins with an orientation & safety briefing around our fire circle, followed by a selection of seasonal activities including woodland games, exploration, den-building, tree-climbing, flora and fauna ID, forest School skills such as knots, fire-lighting, whittling and safe saw use. There is also plenty of opportunity for free play, whether that’s swinging on the rope swing, balancing on the slack line or chilling out in the hammock. Children will also engage in natural creative projects, environmental awareness, songs and stories around the camp fire and mindfulness in nature practices.

John Muir Award

During the sessions we will offer children the opportunity to work towards completing the John Muir Award (though this is not essential), which includes four Challenges – Discover, Explore, Conserve, and Share. The John Muir Award is an environmental award scheme focused on wild places. It supports people to connect with, enjoy and care for nature, landscape, and the natural environment – wild places. The Forest School Leader will assist and track your child’s progress, and children will gain a badge for each completed section of the challenge followed by a certificate and a Grow Wellbeing patch on completion of the reward.

The season, weather and group dynamics all play their part in making each day unique for the children. The children are outside for the whole session and appropriate outdoor clothing is essential.
