Jamal Aliyev (Cello) & Maria Tarasewicz (Piano)

Due to unexpected travel complications, we have had to make some changes to the planned concert, including the pianist and the programme, as detailed below.

Hoylake Chamber Concert Society is delighted to welcome Jamal Aliyev and Maria Tarasewicz for a Cello and Piano duo recital on Monday 25th April 2022, 7:30PM, at St Hildeburgh’s Church in Hoylake, Wirral.

Azerbaijan-born cellist Jamal Aliyev has performed in Europe, the US, Venezuela, Turkey, Russia, China, and the UK, having made a solo debut in 2017 at the BBC Proms. He has also joined in recitals with renowned Turkish pianist and composer Fazil Say playing his compositions, including premiering his cello concerto Sahmeran in Istanbul. His debut CD “Russian Masters” with Anna Fedorova was released to critical acclaim, and he has also recorded with Say and the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Maria Tarasewicz was born in Ukraine. She moved to Poland when she was 11 and studied in Brussels. She has gained an international reputation as a chamber musician, duo partner and a pedagogue, performing in Norway, Belgium, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, China and at many UK festivals and masterclasses. She has performed in all of London’s major concert venues including Wigmore Hall and Cadogan Hall. She also appears regularly on BBC Radio 3 and works as a duo coach at the Royal College of Music and as a chamber music coach at the RCM Junior Department. Maria is a co-founder and artistic director of The Thinking Musician, an innovative and unique programme for advanced young artists.

The programme includes:

Schumann: Drei Fantasiestücke, Op 73

Brahms: Cello Sonata No.1 in E minor, Op.38

Rodion Shchedrin: Imitating Albeniz

Fazil Say: 4 Cities

Chopin: Polonaise Brilliante in C major, Op 3
