It’s a Joy thing… Crafting a Vibrant Future – Session 1

26 May @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Crafting a Vibrant Future is a series of collaborative community engagement art and conversation projects led by artist Jennifer Vanderpool.

The Event

Participants are invited to share ideas for personal and community wellbeing and imagine ways to realize their aspirations, while crafting collages that visually reflect these intentions.

Reflecting on the thoughts expressed during these workshop, Jennifer will create a mural that will be displayed at the new Joy location, the former Treasury Annex building in Birkenhead. Joy will be a flourishing centre for arts, culture, health and wellbeing that inspires and empowers Wirral residents to improve their quality of life and help to create a thriving community.

At Bloom we will be hosting three separate Craftivism sessions. No art experience required! Art supplies, magazines, and other found materials will be provided. Feel free to bring your own craft materials.

For each session we are inviting different stakeholders in the creation of Joy to be involved.

For this session we invite our NHS partners to be involved.

About Jennifer Vanderpool

A native of the Mahoning Valley in Northeast Ohio, working in Los Angeles and the Midwest, artist Jennifer Vanderpool values questioning equity issues through art-making. She draws on her immigrant family’s working-class story as a lens to query the social construction of place based on the influences of history, race, class, gender, and labor and employs this process to investigate workers’ lives beyond geopolitical boundaries. Her social practice exhibitions highlight the global predicaments of those engaged in manual and industrial labor and their communities. She is a US-UK Fulbright Artist Fellow.
