Hand Weaving with Kirsty Jean at The Barn, Heswall, Wirral
3 September @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Kirsty will demonstrate thread by thread how to set up a frame loom and accomplish different woven techniques. You will then be able to try these patterns out for yourself, weaving with a variety of yarns and materials, from organic cotton, lustrous wools, silks and other textured and fancy yarns. Kirsty has a selection of over 100 yarns to experiment with, so there’s plenty to choose from.
Whether you produce a traditional or contemporary design, you will create your own personal wall hanging to take home with you. Kirsty will be on hand to answer questions for all your weaving needs and with over 10 years’ experience in the field, her expertise really brings her workshop to life. This class would suit those new to weaving and looking to learn a new craft skill, covering an array of weaving patterns such as plain weave (tabby), hopsack and monks belt.
Learn more about the fabulous craft of weaving whilst progressing at your own pace, this class is designed to be fun, yet engaging. All yarns will also be provided, but if you have some at home that you’ve been saving for that special project, please bring them along! Typical class sizes hold a maximum of 8 students so you will have plenty of individual attention and time to complete your project during this session. Workshop attendees will also have the choice of a scrumptious, locally made cake, accompanied by a barista coffee or herbal/infusion tea included in the price.
