Green Fingers – Keeping Houseplants Alive and Thriving

2 April @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Learn how to care for house plants- keeping them healthy and growing well. Turn your home into a green oasis!

Everyone loves to have plants at home, but sometimes we need a bit of guidance on how to keep our leafy friends happy and healthy (or – let’s be honest – alive).

This workshop is all about looking after house plants- keeping them healthy and growing well. In this session you will :

Recognise which types of plant need different kinds of looking after

Feeding and watering plants

Learn how to recognise when plants are not happy

Experience repotting a pot bound plant into a new container

Have a go at taking cuttings of houseplants and potting up

Have the opportunity to ask questions about looking after any plants, including specific questions about your own plants- bring them in!

Leave with a medium sized houseplant you have potted up and a cutting you also potted up

The Green Fingers workshops are led by Terry, an experienced teacher and market gardener, and John, who established the Hamilton community garden project.

At the end of each workshop you will leave with the plants you have worked on, and bags of confidence to have a go at more green fingered projects.

Getting stuck in with a practical approach and lots of hands on activities will give you the confidence to go home and care for your plants whether they’re houseplants or a wild garden jungle!

The workshop is informal with plenty of tea, coffee, biscuits and chatting. The session will be hands-on, working on plants with guidance from the workshop organisers and other participants.

Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Feel free to get in touch with the Make CIC office at 0151 601 8665 or email hello@makecic.org

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

If you find that you cannot attend then you are welcome to pass your place on to a friend who may find it useful. Please let the organiser know if you need to do this.

Alternatively tickets can be transferred to a future event up to 7 days before the event.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, a register will be taken at the workshop, it isn’t necessary to print your ticket.

What is the refund/cancellation policy?

Refunds will be offered in the event of the class being cancelled – in this instance we will give as much notice as possible, usually at least 5 days, and offer alternative dates if appropriate.

This class does have a minimum requirement of ticket sales to proceed, so there is a possibility of it being cancelled, but we will contact you five days before if this is the case.

If for any reason you find you are unable to attend then please get in touch and a refund can be offered up to 7 days before the workshop.

This is because we pay our practitioners fair wages for their work- giving refunds on last minute cancellations would mean that practitioners would not be paid for the preparation they have put into their classes.

*Refunds will be given minus Eventbrite fees, unless Make CIC cancel the class, in which case a full refund will be given*

The name on the registration/ticket doesn’t match the attendee. Is that okay?

Please bring along a print out of your ticket if the registration does not match the attendee, or contact hello@makecic.org to have them change the ticket so it contains your name.

What can I bring into the event?

You don’t need to bring anything but yourself. All materials are provided.

Wear comfortable clothing and feel free to bring along a drink or a snack!

I have symptoms of COVID-19 or have been told to self isolate after being in contact with someone with COVID-19 can I get a refund?

We can refund your ticket or transfer your ticket to a future class/workshop if you let us know 7 or more days prior to the class or workshop.

We can refund your ticket up to 5 days before the event if you can provide evidence of a positive test result or instructions to self isolate if we manage to re-sell the ticket. We will do our best to do so, but cannot guarantee a refund.

We cannot refund your ticket in the 5 days prior to the event. You are welcome to pass your ticket on to a friend or family member but please let us know who the new ticket holder is in advance.

This is because we pay our practitioners fair wages for their work- giving refunds on last minute cancellations would mean that practitioners would not be paid for the preparation they have put into their classes.

*********COVID 19**************

We have taken every possible step to ensure this class is run safely.

Social distancing measures are in place

We ask that everyone who enters Make’s premises uses the NHS track and trace app, signs in and wears a face covering, if not exempt.

Hand sanitiser and face coverings will be provided if needed.
