Green Bibliofest: Blooming Marvellous Flowers

20 August @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Make a 10 cm high dandelion using recycled plastic and metal.

In 2022, Alison Bailey Smith was commissioned to create nine giant sculptures of native wildflowers and plants using repurposed materials such as garden hose, food packaging, yoga mats, light fittings and toothpaste tubes. The sculptures have toured schools, parks and events since and are on show in July at Eureka! Science and Discovery.

A keen gardener, Alison references an early literary influence as reading a book called ‘A Girl of the Limberlost’ by American writer and naturalist Gene Stratton-Porter.

In the two hour session each young person will make a 10 cm high dandelion using recycled plastic and metal. All materials will be provided.

This event is for children only, aged 10 + (plus their accompanying adult)

Please note:

All children and young people must be accompanied by a responsible adult and remain for the duration of the session.

Event details are correct at the time of publishing but are subject to change.
