Birkenhead Park – Paxton’s Perfect Park – Conservation Area Walk

Birkenhead Park is a public park designed by Joseph Paxton which opened on 5 April 1847. It is generally known as the first publicly funded public park in the world. The park was declared a Grade I listed landscape by English Heritage in 1995 and underwent a five-year £11.5 million renovation completed in 2007. During lockdown many people discovered the park for the first time and really appreciated its beauty and history.

Starts: Corner of Ashville Road and Park Drive (near brown Visitor Centre sign). Five minutes ‘walk from Birkenhead Park Railway station

The walk will end approximately 19.30.

This is a fully accessible route on a flat path around the park.
