A Tribute to Rhys Owens

18 March @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Brass chamber concert featuring players from Wirral Symphony Orchestra and Wilmslow Symphony Orchestra.

In March 2022 Rhys Owens, Principal Trumpet of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and tutor at the Royal Northern College of Music died as a result of motor neurone disease. He was an inspirational musician and a wonderful person. This concert is being organised to pay tribute to him on the anniversary of his death and to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. The concert features performances by brass players from Wirral Symphony Orchestra and Wilmslow Symphony Orchestra, as well as an appearance by local operatic tenor Nick Hardy performing pieces specially arranged by Edward Peak. Since Rhys was a proud Welshman, the concert will finish with Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau, the Welsh National Anthem.

The concert also features the premier of Fantasy on Calon Lân, written especially for the occasion by local composer Isabelle Ryder. Please join us for this special concert in memory of Rhys.

The ticket price includes drinks during the interval. If you would like to support the work of the Motor Neurone Disease Association but are unable to come to the concert, please either buy a ticket or donate directly to the association here.

Free parking is available between the Cunard Building and Liver Building after 6 pm.
