Ellesmere Port hairdresser nominated for national award

Charlotte Roberts from Layered Collective in Ellesmere Port is buzzing with excitement after making it to the finals for Independent Salon/Business Newcomer of the Year.

HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards are considered the pinnacle business event representing hairdressing’s entrepreneurs and success stories. These awards spotlight those who are making waves in the hairdressing industry, changing the game for everyone involved.

Charlotte clinched a spot in the finals with a standout entry showcasing how they have turned their business aspirations into reality by establishing a thriving salon. This category welcomes owners of recently launched independent salons, operating for less than two years.

Now, Charlotte is gearing up to compete for top honours at the 25th British Hairdressing Business Awards, set to take place on Monday, 1 July 2024, at London’s Park Plaza Westminster Bridge.

Reflecting on the nomination, Charlotte said, “I’m over the moon! The competition is fierce, so being named a finalist is a huge victory in itself. Starting my own salon has been a journey, pushing me to my limits in ways I never saw coming. I’ve grown leaps and bounds, both creatively and as a leader. Winning this award would be a pivotal moment, and I’ve got my fingers crossed!”

Jayne Lewis-Orr, Executive Director of the British Hairdressing Business Awards, said, “The awards celebrate the talented and passionate businesses and individuals who contribute to the greatness of British hairdressing.

“Once again, our judging panel faced an outstanding group of candidates. Being nominated in this category requires the finalist to showcase their ability to build an incredible business from the ground up, demonstrating their passion, unwavering commitment, and business strategies. Charlotte’s nomination speaks volumes about their entrepreneurial flair and dedication to success.”

A total of 17 trophies will be awarded, recognising excellence in various categories such as best team, outstanding customer care, and sustainability.

Since its inception in 1999, HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards have been synonymous with industry excellence, honouring pioneers like TONI&GUY, Electric Hairdressing, Lions Barber Collective, Colin McAndrew, and Casey Coleman.
