Merseyside Police is appealing for information following a burglary at a house on Wapshare Road in Liverpool on Monday 24 October.
At around 8.30pm it was reported that a man gained entry into the house of an elderly woman while she was inside with her friend.
The offender stole the victim’s handbag and left through the front of the house towards New Hall Lane.
No one was harmed but both women were left very distressed after the incident.
Detective Inspector Neil Dillon said, “This was a horrifying incident for the woman and her friend to have experienced. Thankfully no one was injured during the incident, but both were left very distressed and are receiving the full support of officers.
“I would like to appeal to residents in the area to check their CCTV and doorbell footage to see if it may have captured anything which may help with our enquiries and contact us so we can bring the offenders to justice. If you have any information no matter how small or irrelevant you may think it is please pass it on to us as it could be what we need to identify this man.”
Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to contact @MerPolCC on Twitter, ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook or ring 101 with reference 22000783260.
