Educational leaders of the future set to kick-off career at a Wirral college

A Wirral-based educational academy trust has been recognised for their exceptional work and will be entrusted with training and developing teachers and other educational leaders right across the region from September 2021.

The Holy Family Catholic Multi-Academy Trust (HFCMAT) has been named as one of just 87 hubs to provide high-quality professional development to teachers at all stages of their career.

HFCMAT has five schools under its management and the Teaching School Hub will be established at St John Plessington Catholic College in Bebington, the founding secondary school of the trust.

As one of very few organisations nationally, the hub will be expected to play a significant role in delivering school-based initial teacher training. They will also coordinate the early-career framework which comes into effect in September 2021, new specialist national professional qualifications for teachers and leaders as well as a range of other professional development programmes.

Andy Moor, Chief Executive Officer at HFCMAT, said, “We are very proud to have been chosen to operate one of the new Teaching School Hubs. Our schools have been doing great work to support the system over a number of years so we’re delighted to have this recognised.”

“The Teaching School Hubs are replacing the previous network of more than 750 teaching schools across the country and we will now be preparing to set up and operate this centre of excellence for teacher professional development from September. We will be working with St John Bosco Arts College in Liverpool and other partners to make this happen.”

“We are passionate about what we do across all of our schools. Our vision of formation, inspiration and transformation sets our course. We aim for inspiration – not only for the children in classrooms but for every member of staff who works in our schools.

“We have great leaders, teachers and support staff who make this a special place to be and it is exciting that will be able to support other schools and their staff on their educational journey.”

The Holy Family Catholic Multi-Academy Trust currently consists of five schools across Wirral and Cheshire:-

  • St John Plessington Catholic College, Bebington
  • St Mary’s Catholic College, Wallasey
  • Our Lady of Pity RC Primary School, Greasby
  • St Joseph’s RC Primary School, Birkenhead
  • St Bernard’s RC Primary School, Ellesmere Port
