Driver of ‘small, dark coloured Vauxhall’ sought after boy involved in hit-and-run incident at Bebington

Merseyside Police were contacted just before 8.20pm last night, Tuesday 30 March, following reports that a car had been in collision with a teenage boy at Bebington.

The collision occurred on Teehey Lane in Bebington as the 16-year-old boy was crossing the road with another boy. He suffered an injury to his leg. The boy was taken by ambulance to hospital.

The boys had been crossing between the Premier shop on Teehey Lane and the Royal British Legion. A witness said that she had seen the boy hit by a “small dark-coloured Vauxhall.”

The driver of the car failed to stop at the scene and drove off down Town Lane. An investigation is underway and CCTV and witness enquiries have been carried out in the local area.

Jacey Blackwell, the stepmother of the boy who required hospital treatment, said, “The police are looking into CCTV footage in the area so hopefully the driver will be caught.

“How could someone hit two young lads and then drive off!!

“I have the details of the women who stayed with the boys until we got there and also gave statements to the police. I am so grateful to those women.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or @MerPolTraffic quoting reference 21000203352.
