Dominant Tranmere victorious over Swindon

Tranmere hosted Swindon Town at Prenton Park this evening for a 7:45pm kick-off, in their latest game of the 2021/22 League 2 season.

Swindon come into the match having won only one of their last six games. A 2-1 defeat to Exeter at the weekend saw them slip to eighth place in the table.

Rovers will be looking to improve on their meeting earlier this season that resulted in a goalless draw at The County Ground last August.

Tranmere dominated tonight’s match at Prenton Park against visitors Swindon Town. Kane Hemmings bagged two goals and Paul Glatzel one.

Just six minutes into the game, Hemmings took advantage of a Swindon defensive error and his shot from the centre of the box found the bottom left corner of Jojo Wollacott’s goal, much to the delight of fans who had just held a minute’s applause in memory of Nate Gidman.

A close-range shot from Paul Glatzel hit the left-hand goalpost just a few minutes later.

At 58 minutes, Glatzel made his effort count and doubled Tranmere’s lead with another close-range shot into the centre of Swindon’s goal, ably assisted by Josh Dacres-Cogley.

Tranmere were in complete control of the game and Swindon were getting desperate. A foul by Swindon’s Jake O’Brien on Tom Davies was punished with a penalty that Kane Hemmings converted with a fine curling shot.

The home side easily saw out the rest of the game without any real danger from the visitors, ensuring that they took all three points as the final whistle blew.

Tranmere visit Wallsall for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday 12 February in their next League 2 fixture.
