Delivery driver hit with bottle during attempted robbery in Toxteth

Detectives are appealing for information following the attempted robbery of a delivery driver in Toxteth in June.

At around 5pm on Thursday, 20 June, an Amazon delivery driver returned to his van parked on Lodge Lane, near to the junction of Bentley Road.

He discovered that the tyres of his van had been slashed. As he checked the extent of the damage, the delivery driver was hit to the back of the head with a bottle, resulting in lacerations to his neck and ear.

Three suspects reportedly fled down Lodge Lane before the victim called police. No items were reported as stolen as the driver had locked the van prior to leaving the vehicle.

Forensic, CCTV, and witness enquiries are being carried out.

Detective Constable Frankie Massingham said, “This was a violent attempted robbery of a young man going about his daily business, and we are determined to find those responsible and put them before the courts.

“Lodge Lane will have been busy with pedestrians and road users at the time, so if you were in the area or passing by, please come forward with any information, dashcam, CCTV or other footage, as it could be absolutely vital to our investigation.”
