Dawes speaks ahead of trip to Crawley

Ian Dawes sat down to preview Rovers’ trip to West Sussex to face Crawley Town.

Tranmere are heading southbound after a satisfactory victory on Easter Monday against Swindon Town, following Harvey Saunders’ goal and heroics from Mateusz Hewelt in between the sticks.

Dawes was very pleased with his sides showing and the bounce back from a gutless and inept showing at Carlisle.

“I thought on Monday, to a man, everyone ran hard and competed for the Club and the fans as well and got a good result. We praised the players on how outstanding they were, and it was outstanding because of how we managed the game off the ball.

“We had a game plan, we wanted to press them and once we went 1-0 up, we had to look at it tactically in a different way, and how we needed to change it to get it control. Three points is always important”

Dawes knows how important any three points are and this doesn’t change anything, and the caretaker boss will be hoping Monday can spearhead a good run until the end of the season.

“First and foremost, you’ve got to win games of football at Tranmere, it doesn’t matter what stage of the season it is at, and the players are no different and we want to win for the fans.

“We’re going to Crawley on Saturday, we’ll take a good following as we always do and we’ll want to go and make sure that we win the game for them, however we play, we have an ideal way of playing and that’s to dominate the ball, but ultimately win games of football!”
