Cyclist hospitalised following serious collision

Merseyside Police is appealing for information following a serious road traffic collision in Netherley on Saturday 2 September.

At around 9.15pm, it was reported that a collision had occurred between a grey Ford Fiesta being driven on Caldway Drive at the junction of Clematis Road and a pedal bike.

The male on the pedal bike, aged 17, suffered serious head injuries and he remains in hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene.

Police are appealing for any witnesses, CCTV, doorbell and dash camera footage which may assist the investigation. 

Detective Sergeant Andy Roper, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said, “We continue to investigate the circumstances of this incident and our primary aim is to get answers for the young man’s family.

“To enable us to do so, I am reaching out to the local community and would ask if you witnessed this incident or have any information, please let us know.

“We also urge those who live in the area or were driving past to check your CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage as it may have captured the incident. Any information no matter how small could help the investigation.”
