Consultation launches on Wirral bus route changes

Monday, 13 November sees the start of a two-week consultation on potential changes to the routes of two bus services in Wirral.

These potential changes would see the 16 and 17 bus services – which operate between Moreton and Eastham Rake – diverted to cover parts of the route taken by the 418 service which is proposed to be withdrawn by operator Arriva.

People are being invited to take part in an online survey to make their views heard. Merseytravel staff will also be speaking directly to passengers on-board a number of 16 and 17 services about the potential route changes in order to gather feedback.

Cllr Steve Foulkes, Chair of the Transport Committee at Liverpool City Region Combined Authority said, “We hope that these proposals to partially reroute the 16 and 17 services will help to address some of the gaps which will be left, should Arriva follow through on their proposals to withdrawal the 418, notably around Prenton.

“Anyone can take part in the consultation, but we particularly want to hear from existing users of the 16 and 17 routes as well as those who people who are regular passengers on 418.”
