Christmas gift appeal aims to spread festive sparkle

Efforts to provide some extra festive sparkle for hundreds of local children got underway today (Tuesday 23 November) with the launch of Wirral Council’s Christmas gift appeal.

Organisers are hoping to repeat the success of last year’s appeal and are once again calling on residents, businesses, and Council staff to donate different types of gifts to ensure presents are available for vulnerable children of all ages – from babies up to 16 year olds – and have suggested:-

• Toys for 0-12 year olds
• Pyjamas for 0-16 year olds
• Gifts for teenagers such as toiletries, perfume, aftershave, make-up, socks and costume jewellery
• Selection boxes
• One4All gift cards (available online and from Post Offices)
• Medium and large Christmas gift bags

Public drop-off points for new and unwrapped donations will remain open until Friday 17 December (9am-5pm, Mon-Fri) and are available at:-

• The Floral Pavilion, Marine Promenade, New Brighton, CH45 2JS
• Brassey Gardens Children’s Centre, 2 Brassey St, Birkenhead, CH41 8DA
• Bromborough Children’s Centre, Gratrix Road Bromborough, CH62 7BW
• Rock Ferry Children’s Centre, Ionic Street, CH42 2BL
• Seacombe Children’s Centre, St Paul’s Road, CH44 7AN
