Chester and Wirral Football League round up, 8 October 2022

On Friday night in the Wirral FA Junior cup quarter-final, Hooton Vets finally broke their Mersey Royal voodoo.

A Kieron Fleetwood double, plus a JP Stanhope strike and an own goal was enough for “The Hoot” as they won 4-1 to progress through to the semi-final.

In the same competition, Capenhurst Villa Vets defeated Higher Bebington Kelma Vets for the second time in a week as they followed up last week’s 5-2 league victory with a 3-2 win this time round, thanks to goals from Tony Ashton, Mark Ryan, and Ian Forster.

The only game in the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier division saw Lockdown FC move up to second as they beat Christleton FC 2-1, thanks to goals from Adam Heskett and Aaron Pickavant, with Sam Williams replying for Christleton.

With the top two teams In the CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship not in action, this allowed others to play catch up as a Ben McGlashen hattrick plus an own goal allowed Upton JFC Youth to stay third as they beat Port Sunlight Nomads 4-2, with Harley Price and Ed Maudsley replying for Port Sunlight.

Cestrian Alex FC smashed six past Sutton Rangers without reply, with the goals coming from Neil Peaker, Ben Hardman, Elliot Davies, Josh Camy, Ashley Reed, and Adrian Groves.

An Ian Thomas goal was not enough to save Orange Athletic going down 13-1 against Chester Nomads 4th team, as James Lloyd bagged six plus doubles for both Leo Massey and Trey Lattie, and singles for Jack Bebington, Sean Shrigley and Lewis Coppack.

In the CWFL Precision Vets Division 2, a hattrick from Simon Andrews and a single from Steven Davies was enough for Chester Nomads Vets to take the points in a 4-2 victory over Great Sutton Vets.

Eastham Vets – despite going 1 down, then 2-1 down – rallied back with 10 men to snatch a last-minute winner as goals from Jack Towers, David Steen, and David Sadler gave Eastham a dramatic win against Nags Head Bunbury Vets.

Neston Nomads Vets defeated Winsford Vets 2-0 thanks to a goal apiece from Chris Kennedy and Sam Bunbury. Hartford Vets smashed seven past Frodsham Vets, Mike Jones and Adam Sprowson both hit doubles, and Dave Ashley, Dave Hewak, and Luke Wilkinson all hit singles in a 7-1 win.

In the CWFL Precision Vets Division 3, a Kev Pink hattrick, a double from Dave Woods and a single from Steve Mole gave Parkfield Vets a 6-2 win against Dee Rangers Vets.

Barry Jones and Michael Donald both netted for FC Vaults Vets as they beat Rake and Pikel Vets 2-1 whist a fine double from Chris Swanson plus a single from Carl Finlay gave MSB Woolton Vets a 3-2 victory against Upton JFC Vets.

Despite scoring via Michael Howard, Crossway Vets lost 4-1 against Hoole Rovers Vets.
