The first midweek games got underway last Wednesday in the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division as Shaftsbury Youth hit six past Groves FC without reply as Eddie Jebb and Bailey Onwemene both grabbed doubles which were supplemented by singles from Steve Large and Lee Griffiths.
Waggon & Horses travelled to Little Heath to take on promoted Christleton FC and played out a cracker. Waggon, despite scoring through Kieran Ball, Billy Fennell, and Dylan Owens, had to settle for a point as Christleton struck three of their own through Joe Bowdler, Mike Murray and Sam Williams as the game finished 3-3.
Black Horse got back to winning ways beating Lockdown FC 5-1 as doubles from Iain Colligan and Matt Kehoe were supplemented by a single from Farris Baker as Ryan Bazley scored Lockdowns consolation. Goals from Dan Dixon, Adam Harding, Adam Hall, and Ryan White gave Helsby 3rd a 4-0 win away at Runcorn Sports.
On Saturday, in the CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship, Upton JFC Youth Reserves took the lead midway through the first half against newcomers Farndon FC when a James Lally corner was headed home by Joe Muir.
But in a thrilling ending Farndon scored two late goals to get their campaign off to a flyer as they ran out 2-1 winners.
In the week’s highest scoring game, Newton Athletic scored an incredible 18 goals as they demolished Orange Athletic FC. Ben Richards netted five, Matty Osborne four, whilst Josh Scully and Pete Greenwood both grabbed hattricks, and Mike Mcintyre, Marc Moorfield and Viktor Bogoslovo all got singles.
Man of the Match Ben Hunter netted as Port Sunlight Nomads ran out 4-1 winners against Hoole Rovers 1st. Sunlight’s other goals were scored by Mitch Francis, Ed Mawdsley, and Callum Leach.
James Lloyd scored four and Trey Lattie got one as Chester Nomads fourth team beat Cestrian Alex 5-1, whilst Reece Jones and Reece Bridge both netted for Great Sutton as they drew 2-2 with Sutton Rangers. Inspired by Man of the Match, Jamie Gooden, Sutton struck back with goals from Josh Deelun and Joes Davies.
In the CWFL Quensferry Sports Premier Division, Helsby 3rd went top as they beat Neston Nomads Reserves by the odd goal in five, with Adam Harding netting a double plus a Harry Eardly goal saw Helsby take the 3 points.
Captain Josh Leach netted just before half time as Hoole Rangers took all 3 points away at Shaftsbury Youth in a result which sent Hoole second.
A brace from Zac Hall and a Zacc Caveney strike gave Christleton FC the points as they won 3-2 against Black Horses (Iain Colligan and Matty Holt), as Horses indifferent early season form continues.
Waggon & Horses who netted through Ellis Moore, earned a point away at Blacon Youth Reserves and Runcorn Sports 3rds beat Groves Athletic 4-3.
