In the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division, Shaftsbury Youth had Iggy Mcgraa on fine form as he bagged a hat trick, with the pick of the bunch being a 30-yard thunderbolt.
Shaftes‘ other goals came via Steve Large and an own goal as Shaftes ran out 5-1 winners against Blacon Youth Club Reserves.
Hoole Rangers had a fine 3-1 victory to make it four wins from four against Black Horse courtesy of goals from Martin Graves, Ryan Primrose, and Callum Jones whilst Sam Parker netted for Black Horse.
Helsby Thirds had an excellent 4-1 away win at Lockdown, with goals from Ad Harding, Adam Bramwell, Graeme Search, and Si Whelan with Jamie Patterson grabbing a consolation for Lockdown.
The CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship saw some high-scoring games with Chester Nomads scoring five against Port Sunlight Nomads who bagged three of their own. Chester’s goals came via a hattrick from Tim Ashbrook, plus singles from Nath Moffat and Jack Bebbington. Sunlight replied through a Mark Rand brace plus a single from Callum Leach.
Cestrian Alex travelled to Hoole Rovers and came away with all three points after goals from Elliot Davies, Jack Bailes, Josh Camy, and Mark Blake gave them a fine 4-2 win. Hoole’s goals came from Ben Ryan and Matty Fowler.
Another high-scoring game saw Upton JFC win 4-1 away at Sutton Rangers. On the score sheet for Upton were Ben McGlashan, Ethan Ramsden, Sam Ismay, and Fergal Hickey, with Sutton’s goal coming from Danny Carr.
In the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 1, Hooton Vets went top as goals from Dave Rudge, Ian Brunt, and Chay Dysart saw them run out 3-1 against Shaftsbury Youth Vets, with Graham Harries netting for Shaftes.
Higher Bebington Kelma Vets got their season up and running with a 4-2 win away at Ashton Vets with Dave Huntington grabbing a double and singles from John Paul Wheadon and Ben Mcwah. Ashton replied with goals from Rhys Nevett and Tom Harrison.
Great Float Vets also got their first point on board with a battling 1-1 draw away at Capenhurst Vets. Anthony Cotgrave netted for Float.
CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 2 saw Queens Park Vets take the points to go top with a hard-earned victory against Upton Vets. Anton Jolly put Queens ahead midway into the first half and Mike Burke grabbed the second before excellent work from Mikey McGree earned Queens a penalty which Dotty Bolton dispatched to seal the win.
Hot on their tails are free-scoring Birkenhead Vets who had another hattrick hero. This time it was player-manager Ricci Loughran doing the damage as Birkenhead ran out 6-3 winners against Tarvin Vets. Birkenhead’s other goals came from Steven Jones, Michael New, and Victor Thurgill, whilst netting for Tarvin were Lee Herring, Andrew Langley, and Daryl Taylor.
Last season’s unbeaten Third Division champions Ellesmere Port Town Vets got their season off to a fine start, winning 3-1 against FC Farndon Vets, with goals from Joe Crane, Martyn Toner, and birthday boy, Chris Hughes. At the other end, Port’s keeper Paul Kane was in inspired form making several top-class saves to keep Farndon out.
Lache Vets won by the odd goal in five as they beat Ellesmere Port Red Lions with the Lache goals coming from a Warren Kelly brace plus a Jake Gibbons single.
