With the Council making the early decision to postpone most games again this weekend, clubs scrambled to make use of the excellent Astro pitches now on offer at various locations across Wirral and Chester.
In the CWFL League Cup first round, a Jack Coll strike put Newton Athletic Reserves into the lead against Hoole Rangers, only to see Christian Cooke hit a brace to send Hoole through to the next round.
In the Cayzer Shield first round, a hattrick from Ben Dobbie plus a Ryan White goal did the damage for Helsby Reserves as they dispatched Hoole Rovers 4-2.
Ben Nimmo put in a great performance to claim Man of the Match for Sutton Rangers as goals from Allen, Carr, Deelin, and Smith gave Sutton a 4-1 victory over Orange Athletic who replied through Stu Drury.
In the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 3, Sam Bunbury bagged a hat-trick for Neston Nomads Vets as they ran riot against Great Sutton Vets, with Neston hitting eight without reply. Ian Cross hit a double whilst Dave Moores, Sean McCone, and Jim Thompson grabbed singles.
Dan Butler and Jonny Stubbs both scored for Nags Head Vets but Hartford Vets also bagged two via Luke Wilkinson and Chris Crawford to take a share of the points.
A goal apiece from Chris Carey and Matty Nield was not enough for Frodsham Vets as they went crashing to a 6-2 defeat against Winsford Vets.
In the CWFL Tarin Precision Vets Division 4, Rake and Pikel had Mark Hughes and Russ Morgan both on fine form as they defeated Crossway Vets 3-1. Hughes bagged two with Morgan assisting both whilst Hughes returned the favour when he assisted for Morgan’s goal, Crossway replied via a Phil Radcliffe goal.
Upton JFC Vets and FC Vaults Vets shared the points in a 2-2 draw, Chris Pitfield and Gary Parker netting for Vaults whilst Paul Stanley and Mike Bryant scored for Upton JFC.
