On Friday night In the Doug Johnstone Vets Cup Semi-Final, Birkenhead Vets took a 1-0 lead against Hooton Vets courtesy of a strike from Shaun Kelly, and it stayed that way until just before half time when a Chay Dysart effort drew Hooton level.

On Saturday at Cammell Lairds it was Cup Final day as the 12pm kick off saw Shaftesbury Youth face off against rivals Waggon & Horses in the Cayzer Shield. In an exciting game, Harley Bennion gave Waggon an early lead only to see Shaftes strike back with goals from Paul Kane and Dean Nunn.
Waggon then regained the lead with goals from Ellis Moore and another Harley Bennion effort, but Shaftes fired back as Birthday Boy Iggy McGraa popped up with a last-minute goal to send the game to penalties. It was Waggon who kept their nerve to win the shootout 5-4 to lift the famous old Shield.
Premier Division Champions Blacon Reserves took on Black Horse in the League Cup Final. Ian Colligan netted for Black Horse only for it to be cancelled out by an Aaron Rowlands strike as the game ended 1-1 and again went to penalties with Black Horse winning 4-2 to lift the League Cup Trophy. Congratulations to both Waggon and Black Horse.

In the CWFL Tarvin Precision Division One, Mersey Royal Vets secured an incredible sixth consecutive league title but had to do it the hard way in a crazy game against title rivals Higher Bebington Kelma Vets.
Kelma had John Paul Wheadon on target with a double plus Jason Ashworth, Paul Stewart, and Bryan Layfield with singles but could not find a way to beat the Royal who netted via doubles from Dava Bowe and Andy Robbo plus strikes by Chris McGinn and Mark Connolly to win 6-5 as David Carrington’s team won another league title. Congratulations to Mersey Royal who lifted the league Trophy after the game.
The only league yet to be decided is the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division Two which could be decided this Saturday as current leaders Queens Park Vets host second placed Lache Vets at Poulton Vics in a 2pm kick off. A win or draw for Queens will see them crowned Champions but a win for Lache will take it to the last game of the season. Good luck to both sides.
