Chester and Wirral Football League round up, 13 April 2024

In the last 16 of the CWFL Life Member cup on Monday night, Neston Nomads Reserves erased the memory of a disappointing defeat in the Cayzer Shield semi-final two days before as goals from Aiden Middleton and Alex Butterworth saw Neston defeat Chester Nomads XI 2-1. Neston will now meet Sutton Rangers in the quarter final.

On Wednesday night in the CWFL Queensferry Premier Division, Shaftesbury Youth and Moreton FC played out a 3-3 thriller. Danny Keogh bagged a Brace and Ash Jameson a single for Moreton, but Shaftsbury struck back with a double from Danny Whitehead and a goal from Declan Iverson.

On Saturday, Hoole Rangers had a four-goal hero in Callum Jones as they demolished Chester Nomads XI 9-1. Victor Arogundade also netted a brace to go along with singles for Jack Stelling, Ben Hughes, and Josh Leach.

League form was thrown out the window on Saturday in the Dee 106.3 League cup semi-final. Kelsall have defeated Sutton in both league encounters this season but a double from Steffan Gittins and a strike from Nathan Stephenson sent Sutton Rangers into the final as they ran out 3-1 winners. Dom Coates got Kelsall’s consolation goal.

In the other semi final, league form was very much the norm as Waggon & Horses booked their place in the final with an emphatic 5-0 win against Moreton FC. A James Lloyd double was supplemented with singles from Robbie Davies, Ben Barret and Shean Shrigley.

Witton Albion Vets hit second-placed Frodsham Vets Reserves for six without reply and had six different scorers. Dan Holland, Oliver James, Kyle Dyson, Scott Fullwood, Dave Shore, and Dave Lomas all bagged in a superb win for Witton.

A Matt Naylan hat-trick was the difference as Port Sunlight Vets beat Rake & Pikel Vets by the odd goal in five. Edwin Reyes and Tim Miles hit Rake’s consolation goals.

Division 5 leaders, Wirral Masters Vets, had to settle for a point against Crossway Vets in a 2-2 draw. Nike Davies and Michael Shaw netted for master’s whilst Josh Jones and Wes Roberts bagged for Crossway.
