Chester and Wirral Football League round up, 12 November 2022

Game of the day came from the CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship, as league leaders FC Farndon welcomed second-placed Newton Athletic Reserves to the Farndon Community Centre.

Farndon took a deserved lead via a 37th-minute penalty from the league’s top scorer. Lee Parry. Early in the second half, Newton hit back when Danny Mongan also netted from the spot. Another Newton penalty five minutes later – this time taken by Dan Christian – was brilliantly saved by Zac Bushell in the Farndon goal.

The resulting corner from Danny Mongan went straight into the net, to give Newton the lead. Mongan then dispatched his second penalty to seal a 13-minute hat-trick and Farndon’s unbeaten record was beginning to look under serious threat.

Lee Parry’s smart turn and finish gave Farndon hope, and in the last-minute Captain, Ben Parry, headed home a dramatic equalizer to bring the game level at 3-3. From the resulting restart, Newton almost stole it in when Marc Moorfield shot straight from the kick off only to see the post come to Farndon’s rescue!

Trey Lattie’s fine goalscoring form continued for Chester Nomads as he netted his third hat-trick of the league campaign. Shean Shrigley, James Lloyd, and James Pemberton also netted to give Nomads a 6-0 victory over Cestrian Alex.

Cameron Dewhurst scored all five Upton JFC goals as they ran out 5-0 winners against Orange Athletic in a result which sees Upton leapfrog Newton into second.

In the Cheshire Cup, a Paul Kane strike was not enough for Shaftsbury Youth who went crashing out at Duckinfield, losing 5-1.

In the CWFL Queensferry Premier Division, Black Horse extended their lead at the top to four points as goals from Dan Rice and Iain Colligan saw off Hoole Rangers, who replied through Callum Jones.

Lockdown FC won away at Helsby 3rds by the odd goal in five, with Lockdown’s goals coming via an Aaron Pickavant brace and a single from Adam Harrocks, with Helsby’s goals coming from an Adam Harding double.

In the Tarvin Precision Vets Division 3, Tom Cairns netted a brace and was joined on the scoresheet by Michele Appolonio as Chester Nomads Vets beat Frodsham Vets 3-1.

Two goals from Liam Goulding and one from David Garstang gave Winsford Vets a 3-2 victory against Hartford Vets In the Tarvin Precision Vets Division 4.

A heated exchange between Parkfield Vets and Upton JFC Vets saw the points shared as Steve Robinson netted for Parkfield and Phil Cardell netted for Upton.

A Carl Fowlie brace was not enough for Dee Rangers Vets as they conceded three against Hoole Rangers Vets whose goals came from Baz Neale, Dan Eborall, and Ste Owen.

Despite goals from Phil Radcliffe and Will White, Crossway Vets lost to the odd goal in five as FC Vaults netted via a Dave Southgate double and a single from Adrian Croft.

MSB Woolton Vets had Danny Parr, Robbie Lomax and Ben Charlton on the scoresheet as they beat Rake and Pikel 3-1 with Luke Bedson netting for Pikel.
