The CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division kicked off on Saturday and Champions Blacon Youth got their campaign off to a winning start against newcomers Kelsall FC.
Midway into the first half, Blacon Skipper Robbie Joinson launched a throw into the box which caused havoc and allowed Jack Rowlands to poke home from close range. Just before half time, Frederick Webb drew Kelsall level when his 20-yard shot squirmed under the Blacon keeper and it was game on.
Fifteen minutes into the second half and another Robbie Joinson throw in, assisted this time by the wind, found its way into the net via a deflection to win it for Blacon. Special mention to Liam Power who stepped in to referee the game at late notice.


Hoole Rangers had Kyle Stoddart, Ryan Primrose, Callum Jones, and Connor Howley all on target as they eclipsed Moreton FC 4-2. Moreton’s goals came courtesy of a Christian Gabriel Bratu strike and an own goal.
Shaftsbury Youth had Alfie Naylor and Daryl Hellon to thank for a 2-1 win against Chester Nomads as Shaftes got off to a winning start.
Christleton FC came away with all 3 points, winning 3-1 against Sutton Rangers who netted via Shakeel Sterling.
In the CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship Division, Waggon & Horses Reserves defeated Handbridge FC by the odd goal in five. Waggon’s goals came from a Brandon Garland double and a single from Kieran Ball with Handbridge replying with goals from Taylor Owen and Scott Gibbons.
Neston Nomads Reserves had Luke Hall and Alex Butterworth on target both with doubles and were assisted with further efforts from Chrissy Bushell and Joel Hall plus an own goal as they ran out 7-2 winners against Sutton Rangers Reserves who had Jamie Rivers on target with a brace.
The biggest winners of the day were Upton JFC Youth Reserves who ran riot scoring nine against Cheshire Vikings, with Joe Williams bagging 4, Ged McGovern with 3 and Cam Dewhurst with 2. Vikings goal came from Jamie Marshall.
Friday 18 August at Vauxhalls astro pitch will see the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Divison 1 kick off as Champions Mersey Royal Vets take on Higher Bebington Kelma Vets and Hooton Vets will welcome Lache Vets. Both games are 7pm kick off
