In the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division, Christleton FC shocked title favourites Shaftesbury Youth Club, winning 2-1 to blow the title race wide open and give Blacon youth Club fresh hope.
17-year-old Harley Stewart bagged his first goal for Christleton, whilst George Tingey was also on the scoresheet. This result now sees Shaftesbury’s game against Blacon on 15 April looking likely to be a title deciding game.
Kieran Ball, Chris Varney, Billy Fennell, and Aiden Field were all on target for Waggon & Horses as they defeated Sutton Rangers 4-0 in the Cayzer Shield Semi-final. In a closely fought contest Sutton put up a good fight but in searching for an equalizer left themselves open and conceded three times in the last 15 minutes.
In the League Cup Quarter Final, Josh Leach and Azmo Eymond both netted singles as Hoole Rangers defeated Chester Nomads IV to progress through to the semi-final.
Despite a brace from Robbo Courtenay and singles from Jamie Kelly and Danny Edwards, Mersey Royal Vets lost by the odd goal in nine against Higher Bebington Kelma Vets who had JP Wheadon on target with a double whilst Ged Mcwah, Mark Jones, and Steve Forster also weighed in to keep Kelma top of the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 1.
Capenhurst Villa Vets kept their title hopes alive with a 2-1 win at Shaftesbury Vets with Tony Ashton and Luke Eccles doing the damage as Danny Smith replied for Shaftesbury Vets.
In the Tarvin Precision Vets Division 2, Lache Vets kept the pressure on leaders Queens Park Vets by defeating Birkenhead Vets 5-3. Nick Whittaker bagged a double whilst Mikey Edwards and Jake Gibbons also got in on the act with the other goal coming via an own goal. Birkenhead Vets replied with singles from Victor Thurgill, Jimmy Hodgin, and Shaun Kelly.
Upton Youth Club Vets had Mila Ashford on target with a brace and Gaz Stevenson and Gaz Kelly both bagged singles to see off Ellesmere Port Red Lions 4-0.
Tarvin Athletic Vets were excellent value for their first point of the season as a double from Dave Taylor was negated by strikes from Balzal Dolanzi and Gareth Lupton for Ellesmere Port Town Vets as the game ended 2-2.
