Following their disappointing 3-0 home loss on Saturday 3rd September versus Stafford Town in the North West Counties First Division South fixture when scoring opportunities never materialised, Lairds looked to be on for a comfortable win on Tuesday 6 September against fellow strugglers Cheadle Heath Nomads.
Within three minutes Lairds took the lead with a superb header from Kieron Frost and ten minutes later the same player laid on an inch-perfect pass for Regan Rubin to slot home number two in a great start to the match.
However, slack marking allowed the visitors to pull a goal back in the 35th minute as McKinney fired home unchallenged. He then drew his team level before the break with an injury time free kick that was blasted home from 20 yards.
The second period was a very even affair with both teams striving for victory and in the 72nd minute, it looked like Lairds had earned that right as Kieran Hamm received a pass on the edge of the box and turned to fire home a superb goal for a 3-2 lead.
Missed opportunities to increase the lead went begging and with ten minutes remaining McKinney completed his hat-trick with another unchallenged effort to secure a 3-3 draw.
Lairds are away on Saturday 10 September to Abbey Hey and are home again on Tuesday 13 versus Ellesmere Rangers.
