Byrne Avenue Baths launches recruitment drive ahead of September opening

Residents are being invited to apply for a host of new jobs at Byrne Avenue Baths.

The Rock Ferry community resource is planning to open its doors in September – after years of closure and following recent renovation work.

A sports hall and community room will be ready to use from this autumn – with a cafe to follow.

In the longer-term, the pool itself is set to be restored to its former glory.

Now the Byrne Avenue Trust is recruiting a Centre Manager and two Deputy Managers to help run a range of activities and services in the iconic building.

Applications close on Friday (30 July) and can be made via the Byrne Avenue Baths website.

Kickstarter placements and volunteer roles will be available later in the year too.

A crowdfunder launched to raise money for the ground floor cafe – in the former gents’ slipper baths – has already seen a great response but more funds are still needed.

Anyone who pledges money will be able to enjoy a host of benefits – with more vouchers added to the appeal page this week.

Speaking about the new jobs, Ben Harrison, Chair of the Trust, said they hoped to recruit people from the local area.

He said, “As a community resource we’ve always been keen to provide opportunities for people living in and around this area so we’d love to hear from anyone who thinks they might fit the bill.

“We’re looking for people who are enthusiastic and motivated, with a track record of managing others.

“We can provide plenty of training for the right candidate too so this is a chance to get involved with a really exciting project and to help shape the Baths’ future.”
