In a busy day for transfers for Tranmere Rovers, the Whites welcomed a new left-back, while waving goodbye to another.
Ethan Bristow, who played every game for Tranmere after arriving from Reading last season, has departed Prenton Park to head across the world to the USA, signing for Minnesota United.
The 20-year-old’s energy and attitude on the pitch made him a fan favourite, and now he moves across to Stateside to further his development.
To replace the departing Bristow is Jake Leake, who arrives on a season-long loan from Hull City.
Leake spent last season on loan at Scunthorpe United in the National League, featuring 16 times but he couldn’t help stop the sinking ship that was the Iron, as they were relegated to the National League North.
The youngster arriving from the Tigers will have to fill a void down the left side filled well by Bristow in his 12 months spell at Prenton Park.
Manager Ian Dawes said, “We are very pleased that Jake will be joining us for this coming season. We have been in the market for full-backs and have identified Jake as an exciting player who will undoubtedly improve our squad.”
On joining Rovers, Jake commented, “I’m really impressed by the facilities and I’ve heard great things about the Club, the fans and the manager, so I’m very excited to get going.
“I had a conversation with the manager and everything was good. I like what he’s thinking for this season, I like his plans for the team, and I’m excited to work under him.”
