Birkenhead woman jailed for burglary at home of vulnerable person

A woman has been sentenced for burglary in Birkenhead.

Laura Gibson, aged 35, of Birkenhead, was jailed for 38 months after admitting burglary at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday 17 February.

On three occasions in October 2021, Gibson was reported to have stolen cash and a bank card from a vulnerable male at an address on Rodney Street, Birkenhead.

Following extensive enquiries by police, Gibson was arrested on 27 October. She was later charged and remanded into custody.

Community Policing Inspector Pete Rexwinkel said, “Burglary is a very personal crime and understandably the victim was left very distressed by these incidents.

“I am pleased that Gibson has received jail time for her offences and I would continue to encourage people to reports any suspicious behaviour or burglary in our communities so we can take action.

“Our commitment and momentum in catching burglary offenders and putting them before the courts will not cease, so keep coming forward and we’ll do the rest. You can provide information directly to officers, or anonymously via Crimestoppers.”
