Bebington man’s three-day Olympic triathlon raising funds for charity

Local man Zac Guinan has taken part in three Olympic triathlons, raising an impressive £1,000 for the charity, Early Essentials.

Zac braved the sea at West Kirby Marine Lake and swam for 1.5 km, cycled 40 km and completed a 10 km run. Astonishingly, he did all this not once, not twice, but three times over three days.

Zac, from Bebington, is a sub-contractor for the Knowsley-based company, The Forshaw Group, and is also part of the Tri-4-Life team, which is a Wirral-based team of friends, who, for the last 20 years, have raised money for charities – local, regional, and national – by taking on challenges around the world.

Early Essentials is a Manchester-based charity started by two mums with young children. The charity works with health and social care professionals to provide practical help for new mothers, who cannot afford the essentials needed to look after their new-borns.

Thanks to kind donations, Early Essentials provides beautiful Moses baskets filled with all the items needed at the beginning of a baby’s life.

The managing director of The Forshaw Group and the event director for the Tri-4-life team, Liam Hanlon, said about Zac’s achievement, “To take part in one Olympic triathlon is impressive but three is just outstanding!  Zac has had our full support and we always encourage fundraising campaigns amongst our team.  Raising a thousand pounds will make a huge difference to Early Essentials and the new mothers they support.”
