As focus begins to turn to the end of summer and a return to school, Wirral Council is reminding parents that all secondary school pupils (year 7 and above) will receive two on-site rapid COVID-19 tests, three to five days apart, at the start of the new school year.
Secondary school pupils should then continue to test twice weekly at home until the end of September when this will be reviewed. A positive rapid (lateral flow test) result should always be followed up by booking a PCR test and the person testing should self-isolate until the results are back.
Symptom-free LFT tests are a quick and easy way to spot COVID-19 infection and the Government recommends everyone gets tested twice a week to stop the spread of the virus.
If your twice-weekly testing routine has lapsed over the summer, just pick up a test kit for you and your family from any of our mobile testing vehicles, council buildings such as libraries and leisure centres or your local pharmacy.
Find the most convenient collection point for you on the Wirral Council website . COVID-19 doesn’t take a break – let’s keep doing the right thing and get tested.
