Arrest made following ram raid at Ramsdens on Prescot Road

Merseyside Police has arrested a man following a robbery at a business in Old Swan on Thursday 6 October.

It was reported that at around 1.45pm a vehicle had deliberately driven into the front of Ramsdens on Prescot Road.

Two men reportedly exited the vehicle and grabbed a quantity of jewellery from the shop display and then left the scene.

Nobody was injured during the incident.

A 34-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of robbery.

He has now been bailed whilst officers continue their investigations.

Detective Inspector Jennie Beck said, “Although an arrest has been made we are still appealing for any information residents or witnesses may have that could assist with our enquiries.

“If you were on Prescot Road from 1pm or live in the area please check your CCTV, doorbell and dashcam footage as it may have captured vital information that could identify any suspects.

“Business burglaries are not a victimless crime as they have a huge impact on the community in many ways.

“We are determined to find the offenders so that other businesses are not targeted in future. If you witnessed the incident or have seen any images of jewellery online that you believe could have been taken from the store then please let us know so we can bring the offenders to justice.”

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact @MerPolCC on Twitter or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook with reference 22000738153.
