Arrest after Brombrough RTC: 3-year-old child in critical condition

Officers from Merseyside Police Roads Policing Unit have arrested a 37-year-old woman from Leasowe following a serious road traffic collision in Wirral this afternoon (Thursday, 19 October).

Police said that the incident happened near McDonalds in Bromborough at about 4.10pm. A silver van being driven on Welton Road collided with a 3-year-old child who had exited from a Nissan Qashqai.

The child was taken to hospital having sustained serious injuries, and she remains critical but stable.

The woman from Leasowe was arrested for drug driving and child protection related offences and will be interviewed by officers.

The driver of the transit van stopped at the scene and he is assisting police with the investigation. 

Officers from the Roads Policing team are carrying out examinations at the scene and anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any dashcam footage which could help with inquiries, is asked to contact the police.
