Appeal following Wavertree stabbing

Detectives investigating a stabbing in Wavertree have issued a CCTV image of two males they want to speak to.

At around 4.35pm on Wednesday 29 June officers were called to Smithdown Road after receiving reports that a 19-year-old man had been stabbed in the leg during a fight involving a group of men. The victim was taken to hospital and later released.

An investigation remains ongoing and officers have been carrying out forensic, CCTV, house-to-house and witness enquiries.

Merseyside Police has issued a CCTV image of two males who we believe could assist with the investigation.

Detective Inspector Neil Dillon said, “We are keen to trace these two males as we believe they could have information which is vital to our enquiries. We believe the two males are in company with each other.

“I would ask anyone who recognises either of the males, or has any information about the incident to contact us as matter of urgency.”

Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 22000457813.
