Appeal after woman threatened with steak knife and robbed

Merseyside Police is appealing for information following a knifepoint robbery in Birkenhead last week.

At around 6pm on Wednesday 21 April, a woman in her 20s attended hospital with superficial injuries. The victim was walking towards the Pyramids Shopping Centre on Borough Road when she was approached by a white man with acne scarred skin, black hair, wearing all black clothing and riding a Trek bike.

He approached her and made threats with a steak knife and demands for a phone and coat. The victim sustained superficial injuries in a struggle and the suspect made off with her coat, a purple/blue jacket, and a small amount of cash. Enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Inspector Darren Taylor said: “This was a shocking incident which took place on a busy road so we’re hopeful that someone passing on foot or in a vehicle may have captured the incident, or a man matching this description making off.

“We’ll take action on all information received to put the person responsible before the courts, so please come forward.”
